A.T.A. Recommends Change to M.V.I. Regulations
Nova
Scotia Motor Vehicle Inspection Stations should note that positive
changes to the program may be coming early 2005. In a letter dated June
23, 2004 and subsequent discussions with Service Nova Scotia and
Municipal Relations Motor Vehicle Administration, the A.T.A. has
expressed the concerns of inspection stations related to improving the
inspection process, especially related to brakes, the rising cost of
inspection stickers and the need to raise inspection fees to at least
$25.00.
As well, the A.T.A. continues to work
with Service Nova Scotia & Municipal Relations to develop new
requirements for tester certification for trailers with electric and
hydraulic brake applications. Considering there were 51,260 registered
trailers in December 2003 as compared to 39,451 in April 1992, the
growing importance of proper annual trailer inspections is so evident.
